9. Online advertising

DoubleClick by Google

This website continues to use the online marketing tool DoubleClick by Google if the user agrees. DoubleClick uses cookies to display ads that are relevant to users, to improve campaign performance reports, or to prevent a user from seeing the same ads multiple times. Google uses a cookie ID to record which ads are displayed in which browser and can thus prevent them from being displayed multiple times. In addition, DoubleClick can use cookie IDs to record so-called conversions that are related to ad requests. This is the case, for example, when a user sees a DoubleClick ad and later uses the same browser to visit the advertiser's website and buys something there. According to Google, DoubleClick cookies do not contain any personal information.

Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to the Google server. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data collected through the use of this tool by Google and therefore inform you according to our current level of knowledge: By integrating DoubleClick, Google receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding part of our website or clicked on an ad from us. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can assign the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, there is a possibility that the provider will find out and save your IP address.

You can prevent participation in this tracking process in various ways: a) by not giving your consent; b) by setting your browser software accordingly; in particular, suppressing third-party cookies will prevent you from receiving advertisements from third-party providers; c) by deactivating interest-based advertisements on Google using the link http://www.google.de/ads/preferences ; this setting will be deleted if you delete your cookies; d) by deactivating interest-based advertisements from providers that are part of the “About Ads” self-regulation campaign using the link http://www.aboutads.info/choices ; this setting will be deleted if cookies ; e) by permanently deactivating them in your Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome browsers using the link http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin . Please note that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this offer to their full extent.

Facebook uses cookies to recognize users. These cookies are stored beyond the end of the usage process. It is also conceivable that user profiles are recorded and stored across multiple devices used. This is particularly the case for logged-in Facebook members.

13. Outbrain Amplify

We use the services of Outbrain UK Limited, London, UK ( www.outbrain.com ). This use is based on our legitimate interests in the economic operation of our online offering (as defined in Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f. GDPR).

We provide Outbrain with content (e.g. ads) which Outbrain delivers to readers within its network based on their interests. To display this content, Outbrain uses cookies which are stored on the user's device. Outbrain assigns a UUID (unique user ID) to each reader who interacts with the Outbrain widget (which contains the customer content). The UUID is an anonymized IP address (the last octet of the IP address is removed). This UUID is attached to the reader's device and varies depending on which browser is used. Therefore, a user can have multiple UUIDs.

Using the UUID, Outbrain catalogs and analyzes the content that the UUID consumes on partner sites to recommend additional relevant content for that specific UUID.

The data collected by Outbrain also includes:

  • User agent data: device type (e.g. iPhone), browser type (e.g. Chrome), operating system (e.g. iOS);
  • the pages visited;
  • the time of the visit; and
  • referring URLs and other information typically carried in HTTP requests.

For more information about Outbrain, please see Outbrain’s privacy policy at http://www.outbrain.com/legal/privacy . To object to the use of cookies, please click here http://www.outbrain.com/legal/privacy and scroll down to “2. Users d) Outbrain Opt-out”. There you will find a detailed list of the various cookies ( https://www.outbrain.com/legal/#cookies ) as well as an explanation and list of the various opt-out options ( https://my.outbrain.com/recommendations-settings/home , http://www.aboutads.info/choices , www.youradchoices.ca/choices , www.youronlinechoices.eu ).

Outbrain Pixel

Within our online offering, we use a pixel (“Outbrain pixel”) from Outbrain UK Limited, London, UK ( www.outbrain.com ) due to our legitimate interests in the analysis and optimization of our online offering (as defined in Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f. GDPR).

The purpose of the Outbrain pixel is to provide analytics related to our campaigns (ads) and advanced targeting capabilities. The pixel records which Outbrain UUID (unique user ID) interacted on pages where the pixels are installed, as well as the relevant timestamp, the referring source, and the fact that a conversion occurred. The pixel only tracks activity on an anonymized basis. The pixel does not track or collect any personal data. When the Outbrain pixel is implemented and you visit our website, the Outbrain pixel determines whether you have an Outbrain UUID. If so, we get the total number of UUIDs that have reached the page from Outbrain. We also have the option of retargeting these UUIDs. If no UUID is detected, the Outbrain pixel does not collect any information.

Further information about Outbrain can be found in Outbrain's privacy policy at http://www.outbrain.com/legal/privacy . To object to the use of cookies, please click here http://www.outbrain.com/legal/privacy and scroll down to “2. Users d) Outbrain Opt-out”.

  • User agent data: device type (e.g. iPhone), browser type (e.g. Chrome), operating system (e.g. iOS);
  • the pages visited;
  • the time of the visit; and
  • referring URLs and other information typically carried in HTTP requests.
