At the same time, Jim O'NEAL has been a passionate MX rider since the sport was born. Not only Jim, but also his friends, longed for better equipment that was tailored exactly to their needs. It was precisely this desire for higher performance that spurred Jim on; he wanted to make more possible for his friends and for himself. For the same reason, O'NEAL decided to enter the mountain bike market in the late 80s and to offer products in Europe and the USA.
Product development has been a central aspect of the O'NEAL philosophy since the beginning. O'NEAL was greatly inspired by the bikes people rode and the tracks they rode on in order to tailor their products perfectly to them. O'NEAL has always placed great value on innovative production processes and material technologies in order to guarantee all riders the support and safety they need, and to continually push the boundaries of what is possible.
OUR INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT HAS SHAPED THE INDUSTRY.
This philosophy still plays a very important role in O'NEAL product development today. A good example of this is the IPX® (impact foam technology) developed by O'NEAL, which is used in all O'NEAL protectors. The highlight is the IPX® ACells technology. The system impresses with its 360° rotation and axial movement capability as well as damping properties and surpasses most other technologies on the market. The innovative thinking in our product development has helped to shape the industry.
O'NEAL made its first foray into mountain biking in the 1980s with the launch of the AZONIC brand and the first MTB-specific product line for clothing, protectors and bike accessories. The sport continued to develop and riders pushed themselves and their bikes to ever-increasing levels. O'NEAL's commitment to mountain biking, coupled with its dedication to product development, was extremely successful. We can proudly say that we have helped the sport grow and become more popular.
Even though the focus today is increasingly on the needs of enduro and trail riding, O'NEAL remains true to its roots in downhill and freeride. The adaptation of the O'NEAL product range in recent years has reflected exactly this development.
IT WASN'T ABOUT MAKING MONEY. WE REALLY CARED ABOUT DEVELOPING BETTER PRODUCTS THAT WE COULD RACE.
EVEN AFTER MORE THAN 50 YEARS, O'NEAL IS STILL PUSHING BOUNDARIES AND CONTINUOUSLY SETTING NEW STANDARDS.
